MARS
The evocative acronym MARS stands for the Mechanism Archive and Records Section, which is entrusted with the preservation of the archives of both the ICTY and its sister tribunal for Rwanda, the ICTR. MARS forms part of the successor organisation to these two institutions, the IRMCT, and works closely with the United Nations Archives and Records Management Section to ensure that the archives are maintained according to the necessary standards to guarantee longevity and future access, as one of the main pillars of these institutions’ legacy. It is possible to visit the archives for research purposes.
