Churchillplein 1
The Tribunal’s main building was designed by Ad van der Steur and officially inaugurated on 14 May 1955. It is considered architecturally significant because of its ingenious design and the several works of art which are present both within the building and the grounds outside. The building is protected as a national monument of the Netherlands. There are therefore limits to how much the building can be changed. It was in ‘original condition’ and the Facilities Management Unit went to great lengths to maintain it as such. However exceptions were made for instance for the courtrooms and for office areas, where removable walls were used to be able to deal with changing staffing numbers without needing to affect the building structurally.
